Sunday 6 October 2019 DEPART AUSTRALIA

Day 2
Mon 7 Oct - PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC (4 nights)

Arrive in Prague and transfer to our hotel. Balance of day free to explore and relax in this delightful city.

Day 3
Tue 8 Oct - PRAGUE

Enjoy a tour of this beautiful city exploring Castle Hill, the Cathedral, Charles Bridge, the Old Town, Jewish Quarter and Wenceslas Square. (B)

Day 4

Enjoy a full day excursion to the 13th century UNESCO listed town of Cesky Krumlov where you will see the Old Town and Cesky Castle. After the tour you will have some free time to explore this charming town before we return to Prague with the evening at leisure. (B)

Thu 10 Oct - PRAGUE

Today is yours to relax or explore this beautiful city at your own pace. (B)

Day 6

Today is free at leisure to explore Prague one last time before our overnight train to Poland. (B)

Day 7
Sat 12 Oct - KRAKOW, POLAND (3 nights)

Upon arrival in Krakow, transfer to hotel for breakfast before enjoying a 3 hours sightseeing tour exploring the lively Jewish sector and visit the famous Schindler’s factory. This historic city was virtually untouched in WWII sparing it’s 14th century architecture. After the tour there will be free time for lunch before returning to the hotel. Balance of day at leisure. (B)

Day 8

Today is a sombre day, with a harrowing visit to Auschwitz Concentration Camp. Your specialist guide will provide and eye opening tour and explain why this story should never be forgotten. There will be some free time before returning to Krakow. (B)

Day 9

After breakfast we travel to Wieliczka to enjoy a guided tour of the 700 year old Salt Mines with its lakes, underground chambers, grottoes and chapels all carved from salt by generations of miners. After the tour there will be free time for lunch before returning to Krakow to enjoy the afternoon at leisure. (B)

Day 10
Tue 15 Oct - ZAKOPANE (1 night)

We depart Krakow and travel south into the Tatra Mountains, part of the Carpathian mountain chain between Slovakia and Poland. On our arrival in Zakopane we will enjoy a 3 hour guided tour. After the tour we will transfer to our hotel in this stunning resort town and will have the remainder of the day at leisure. (B)

Day 11
Wed 16 Oct - BUDAPEST, HUNGARY (3 nights)

Our destination today is the capital of Hungary, Budapest located on the River Danube. On our way we will stop in some small villages to meet the locals and experience the local cuisine at the shops and markets.(B)

Day 12
Thu 17 Oct - BUDAPEST

Meet our local guide this morning and enjoy a 3 hour tour of the city. Here we will visit Buda and Pest, the Parliament, Royal Castle, Fisherman’s Bastion, Chain Bridge and Heroes Square. After the tour the rest of the day is yours to relax or explore. (B)

Day 13
Fri 18 Oct - BUDAPEST

Meet our guide this morning and enjoy a full day tour to The Great Hungarian Plain – the Puszta. We’ll visit historic Kecskemet and watch a performance of the famous Hungarian horsemen. On returning to Budapest we will enjoy dinner at a local restaurant before returning to our hotel. (B,D)

Day 14
Sat 19 Oct - SIGHISOARA, ROMANIA (3 nights)

Today you will have a full day to explore Budapest at your own pace before our evening transfer to the station for our overnight train to Sighisoara, Romania. (B)

Day 15

Today we will meet our local Romanian guide explore the ancient walled citadel and birthplace of Vlad Draculea, known as Vlad the Impaler and most famously Dracula! Enjoy a tour of this storybook city including the Ancient Town and the Clock Tower Museum. You will be transported back in time to an ancient town beyond your best imagination. (B)

Day 16
Mon 21 Oct - BIERTAN

A full day excursion to Biertan and Sibiel today including lunch at a farmhouse with a local Transylvanian family in the village of Sibiel. After lunch we return to Sighisoara where the rest of the day is at leisure. (B,L)

Day 17

Depart for Brasov with our local guide, en route our first stop will be at Viscri to see the church and the restored cottage owned by Prince Charles. Continue on to Brasov. On arrival you will have free time to explore and have lunch before starting a city tour. After the tour we will check in to our hotel for our overnight stay in this Transylvanian city. (B)

Day 18
Wed 23 Oct - BUCHAREST (3 nights)

A highlight today as we travel to Bran and enjoy a tour of Bran Castle, (Dracula’s Castle) where the legend begins. It is believed that Bram Stoker’s gothic tale “Dracula” is based on the true story of Prince Vlad III Drăculea of Transylvania, in modern day Romania. After our visit we continue to Romania’s premier winery for a wine tasting followed by lunch. (B,L)

Thu 24 Oct - BUCHAREST

This morning we explore the “Paris of the East”, Bucharest including the Royal Palace, National Art Museum and the world’s second largest building the Palace of the Parliament. Free time for lunch and the afternoon at leisure. (B)

Fri 25 Oct - BUCHAREST

Today is yours to relax or explore at

your own pace. (B)

Day 21
Sat 26 Oct - VELIKO TARNOVO, BULGARIA (2 nights)

We leave Bucharest today for the Bulgarian city of Veliko Tarnovo stopping on our way to explore the UNESCO listed Rock Hewn Churches of Ivanovo. Here we will pick up our guide for the Bulgaria part of our tour in Ruse. We will visit the churches and monastery before enjoying some free time for lunch. We will continue on to Bulgaria’s old capital and our final destination for today, Veliko Tarnovo located perilously upon steep cliffs. (B)

Day 22

Today we enjoy a half day tour of Veliko Tarnovo including Samovodska Street, Tsarevets medieval Fortress and Patriarchal Church. The tour ends at the church and there will be free time for lunch and to explore on your own for the remainder of the day. (B)

Day 23
Mon 28 Oct - PLOVDIV (1 night)

We have two stops on our way today from Veliko Tarnovo to Plovdiv. Our first stop is Etar where we will enjoy a visit to the Open Air Museum. Some free time for lunch and to explore Etara before we continue on to Kazanlak. On arrival we will visit the UNESCO listed Thracian “beehive” Tombs and then continue on to Plovdiv. (B)

Day 24
Tue 29 Oct - SOFIA, BULGARIA (3 nights)

After check out in Plovdiv we will enjoy a city tour with our local guide visiting the Old Town, The Roman Theatre and the Cathedral. Some free time to explore Plovdiv before travelling on to the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia. (B)

Day 25
Wed 30 Oct - SOFIA

This morning we meet with our local guide and depart for the 1st century Rila Monastery. This UNESCO World Heritage listed monastery houses precious old manuscripts and amazing frescoes. You will have some free time to explore and in the afternoon we will return to Sofia.

Day 26
Thu 31 Oct - SOFIA

Spend the day at leisure exploring the city of Sofia’s many wonders at your own pace. (B)

Day 27
Fri 1 Nov - SOFIA

After breakfast, we say farewell to this beautiful city and transfer to the airport for our homeward flight.
