Upon arrival in Krakow, transfer to hotel for breakfast before enjoying a 3 hours sightseeing tour exploring the lively Jewish sector and visit the famous Schindler’s factory. This historic city was virtually untouched in WWII sparing it’s 14th century architecture. After the tour there will be free time for lunch before returning to the hotel. Balance of day at leisure. Today is a sombre day, with a harrowing visit to Auschwitz Concentration Camp. Your specialist guide will provide and eye opening tour and explain why this story should never be forgotten. There will be some free time before returning to Krakow. (B)
After breakfast we travel to Wieliczka to enjoy a guided tour of the 700 year old Salt Mines with its lakes, underground chambers, grottoes and chapels all carved from salt by generations of miners. After the tour there will be free time for lunch before returning to Krakow to enjoy the afternoon at leisure. (B)
We depart Krakow and travel south into the Tatra Mountains, part of the Carpathian mountain chain between Slovakia and Poland. On our arrival in Zakopane we will enjoy a 3 hour guided tour. After the tour we will transfer to our hotel in this stunning resort town and will have the remainder of the day at leisure. (B)
Our destination today is the capital of Hungary, Budapest located on the River Danube. On our way we will stop in some small villages to meet the locals and experience the local cuisine at the shops and markets.(B)

A full day excursion to Biertan and Sibiel today including lunch at a farmhouse with a local Transylvanian family in the village of Sibiel. After lunch we return to Sighisoara where the rest of the day is at leisure. (B,L)

A highlight today as we travel to Bran and enjoy a tour of Bran Castle, (Dracula’s Castle) where the legend begins. It is believed that Bram Stoker’s gothic tale “Dracula” is based on the true story of Prince Vlad III Drăculea of Transylvania, in modern day Romania. After our visit we continue to Romania’s premier winery for a wine tasting followed by lunch. (B,L)

We leave Bucharest today for the Bulgarian city of Veliko Tarnovo stopping on our way to explore the UNESCO listed Rock Hewn Churches of Ivanovo. Here we will pick up our guide for the Bulgaria part of our tour in Ruse. We will visit the churches and monastery before enjoying some free time for lunch. We will continue on to Bulgaria’s old capital and our final destination for today, Veliko Tarnovo located perilously upon steep cliffs. (B)
Today we enjoy a half day tour of Veliko Tarnovo including Samovodska Street, Tsarevets medieval Fortress and Patriarchal Church. The tour ends at the church and there will be free time for lunch and to explore on your own for the remainder of the day. (B)
We have two stops on our way today from Veliko Tarnovo to Plovdiv. Our first stop is Etar where we will enjoy a visit to the Open Air Museum. Some free time for lunch and to explore Etara before we continue on to Kazanlak. On arrival we will visit the UNESCO listed Thracian “beehive” Tombs and then continue on to Plovdiv. (B)
After check out in Plovdiv we will enjoy a city tour with our local guide visiting the Old Town, The Roman Theatre and the Cathedral. Some free time to explore Plovdiv before travelling on to the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia. (B)
This morning we meet with our local guide and depart for the 1st century Rila Monastery. This UNESCO World Heritage listed monastery houses precious old manuscripts and amazing frescoes. You will have some free time to explore and in the afternoon we will return to Sofia.
