Early morning departure from Brisbane as our adventure begins making our way to St George via Goondiwindi.  Here we will visit a Cotton Farm, Cotton Shop and the township before continuing on to St George and a visit to Riverland Winery on the way.

Morning sightseeing around St George and then off to the Nindigully Pub for lunch.  We visit Thallon to see the painted Silos before heading off to Charlotte Plains, a working cattle and sheep station famous for its luxurious Artesian Bore.  Sunset drinks will set the scene for a great night under the stars around the campfire.  Our accommodation tonight is in the comfortable shearer’s quarters adding to this authentic outback experience.

This morning we will join Charlotte Plains host for an extensive tour and informative chat about the working property, how it was established, and we visit the historical, original woolshed which in its heyday would produce 1,500 bales of wool.  The rest of the day is yours to explore and relax in these beautiful bush surroundings and perhaps even another visit to the artesian bore.

After a leisurely start to the day, we say goodbye to Charlotte Plains and make our way to Cunnamulla where you will have time to wander and explore this charming outback town.  Tonight, we will enjoy the ‘All Aboard’ 3D Sound and Light Spectacular.

Our sightseeing tour of the town today takes us to the Cunnamulla Fella statue, the Artesian Time Tunnel and the Robbers Tree.  The Time Tunnel gives you the opportunity to gain an understanding of the importance of water from the Great Artesian Basin to sustain life and support our pastoral and mining industries as well as learning a little about the cultural heritage of the area.

An early start today as we enter into dinosaur and megafauna territory with a stop at Eulo, home to the Diprotodon (Giant Wombat).  A life size statue of this prehistoric creature greets us as we enter this little town of only 70 residents.  It is also the home of Eulo Queen Hotel with its interesting past surrounding the life and times of Isabel Gray, a colourful character who made and lost her fortune in this area.  We’ll visit the Prison and some of the local shops selling opals, honey and fabulous leather work.  From here we travel to Eromanga the home of Australia’s largest dinosaur, and in the top 5 largest dinosaurs in the world by length and mass, “Australotitan cooperensis” (Cooper), where we will check in to Cooper’s Country Lodge in readiness for our search for Giants!

Over the next 2 days we bring out the palaeontologist in us and enjoy a unique experience of a full day dinosaur dig in the field and a full day of fossil preparation in the Eromanga Natural History Museum lab.  You will be taken on a prehistoric journey that started 90-95million years ago.  Over two days we immerse you in the story which has led to the discovery of one of Australia’s most significant dinosaur fossil fields. You will be guided through time from discovery, through to display of some of the largest animals that ever walked on earth, the Eromanga dinosaurs.  Under the guidance of the dedicated team of palaeontologists, geologists and museum staff we will learn how to uncover and process these important and historic discoveries of dinosaur and megafauna fossils in an unforgettable experience.

Say goodbye to “Cooper” and the gang at ENHM and head off to Winton via the epic red sand hills of Windorah, then Jundah and Opalton before arriving at our final destination for today Winton, the birthplace of ‘Waltzing Matilda’ and dinosaur country!

Another day of highlights today as we travel first to Lark Quarry where 95 million years ago a Dinosaur Stampede took place and is frozen in time.  Some 4,000 footprints mark the only still visible example of a dinosaur stampede or river crossing in the world.  In the afternoon we explore ‘Age of Dinosaurs’ including the fossil lab and collection room housing some of Australia’s most complete dinosaur fossils, “Banjo” and “Matilda”.

An early start today as we leave Winton to arrive at Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame in Longreach for our 9am “Stockman’s Experience” tour to learn more about the essence of the Australian stockman.  After lunch we visit the Air Park and Qantas Founders Museum.

We depart Longreach this morning for Tambo via Blackall and Barcaldine.  In Blackall we’ll see The Black Stump and Jackie Howe statue.  On arrival in Barcaldine we visit the Tree of Knowledge, the birthplace of the Australian Labor Party and the “Young-Un” the only direct offspring of the heritage listed Tree of Knowledge which is located at the Australian Workers Heritage Centre.  Next, it’s on to Tambo, the home of the Tambo Teddies.

Today we visit the Tambo Teddies famous store.  During our sightseeing tour of Tambo we will learn about the historical significance of this town before travelling to Charleville for an afternoon visit of the Cosmos Centre.

Our first stop today is a visit to the RFDS Museum and then the WW2 Secret Base tour.  Later we’ll visit the Bilby Centre to learn about and view our endangered Bilby’s.  We finish the day with a drink at the iconic ‘long bar’ at the Corones Hotel.

As we head towards Roma today, we stop at Mitchell where we enjoy a soak in the warm waters of the therapeutic Great Artesian Spa.  On arrival in Roma we visit the Big Rig and learn a little about the oil and gas pioneers in outback Queensland.

Our first stop today is the largest Cattle Sale Yards in Australia before we leave Roma for ‘The Garden City’, Toowoomba.  After lunch we will enjoy a walking tour of the inner city.

After breakfast a guided sightseeing tour of Toowoomba including the Historical Railway Station, Bulls Head Inn at Drayton, some of Toowoomba’s finest gardens and Picnic Point.  After lunch and a visit to the Cobb and Co Museum it is time to return to Brisbane where sadly we farewell our new friends after a wonderful adventure.

Single supplement $720.  – Please note that single use rooms are not available at Charlotte Plains Station or Cooper’s Lodge, Eromanga as all members of the group will be required to twin share in these two locations.  The single supplement is not payable if you are willing to twin share with a friend or another member of the group throughout.  It is only payable should you choose to have a single use room at other stays.

I'm travelling alone, do I have to pay the single supplement?

No. Not if you are prepared to twin share with a friend or another member of the group. This is only payable if you require a single use room throughout the trip.

What size bus will we be travelling in?

We will be travelling in a 38 seater coach providing we have the minimum of 16 travellers in our group. Should the number fall below this and the trip proceeds a smaller vehicle may be used.

How fit do I need to be?

A reasonable level of fitness is required for all Girls On Tour trips.

How many ladies will be in our group.

A maximum of 16 travellers will be in our tour group plus our onboard guide and professional driver.

What about COVID?

Due to the uncertain times with COVID 19, Girls On Tour and Sue McPherson Tours and Travel will adhere to any restrictions and requirements imposed by Local, State and Federal Governments.

This may mean that some venues may impose restrictions on or cancel our visits at last minute. At the time of printing, all included attractions are open to tourism.

Please note that if/where required, the itinerary may be re arranged by the supplier to ensure that we have all our visits and follow current restrictions.

It is your responsibility to check that you are allowed to travel to join and partake of this tour under current COVID restrictions if you are coming from interstate or intrastate.

It is your responsibility to seek and obtain travel insurance and provide details of your cover and to understand that your travel insurance may/may not cover you for COVID 19 and that any cancellation or costs incurred for this may be non-recoverable.

Are entry fees included?

Yes. All entry fees to activities shown on the itinerary are included.

What about comfort stops?

There is an onboard toilet on our 38 seater coach however regular comfort stops will be made.

Are meals included?

Yes. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included daily with the exception of breakfast on day 1 and dinner on the final day.

What deposit is required to secure my place on the tour?

A deposit of $1,000 is required on booking to secure your place.
