Welcome to Girls On Tour!
What a crazy start to 2011 it has been, not only for Queensland and Australia but also the world! The flooding and cyclones experienced throughout much of Australia and the subsequent outpouring of help and assistance has reminded us all of how great it is to be an Aussie. In my beloved Egypt we watched as the events unfolded hoping for a peaceful resolution and although there is still much to be done I hope and pray that Egypt and the Egyptian people are destined for better days ahead. Watching the TV footage of the events on the bridge could well have been taken from any of our windows of the ladies in the 2009 or 2010 tour groups at the Shepherds Nile View Hotel. Watching the small group of hooligans plunder the Museum was heartbreaking but watching the ordinary Egyptians link arms to protect their National Treasure was heartwarming. From the first time I visited Egypt in 1998 I fell in love with the country and her people and we will return as soon as it is considered safe to do so.
2010 was an amazing year for myself and all of the Girls On Tour! In April we travelled to Turkey and Greece and took part in the Commemorative Services at Anzac Cove and on the Gallipoli Peninsular. We continued on through Turkey and then on to the beautiful Greek Islands of Rhodes, Mykonos and Santorini before finishing our trip in Athens.
In May it was off to Italy for an amazing 28 day tour of this beautiful country. Starting off in Venice we were transported by water taxi, arriving like rock stars at Hotel Cavelletto which was about 50 metres from Piazza San Marco and for the next few weeks explored the beautiful regions of Tuscany, Umbria, Lombardy, Campania, Veneto, Sicily and more.
June 2010 a small group of lovely ladies and I experienced an African adventure to Kenya and Tanzania. There is only one word for this destination, WOW! We had the most amazing safari through several game parks including Amboseli, Masai Mara, Serengeti, Nakuru and Ngorongoro. We saw all of the Big 5 plus so much more and this trip will definitely be repeated most likely in 2012.
In September we travelled to UK visiting England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales and finishing off with a week in France. This was a very busy and sometimes downright tiring trip for all of the ladies and in the future the itinerary will be modified to slow down the pace somewhat. The majority of the ladies on the tour enjoyed a night out at the theatre when we went to see “Lion King” in London and “Moulin Rouge” in Paris. In the caves at Naours in France we found the signature of one of the girls great-uncles amongst the graffiti left my the WWI diggers. That experience was very emotional and surreal. Read more about our UK trip on the Past Tours page.
October gave me the opportunity to travel to Nepal with my friend Beth as guests of the Nepal Tourism Board. I am very grateful for the opportunity to travel to this very interesting destination and whereas it has much to offer in the way of spiritual and sporting activities, I doubt that I will be taking a tour group there. Highlights of the tour were the elephant jungle safari at Chitwan, the smaller town of Pokhara and the Peace Stupa.
Also in October Girls On Tour travelled to Egypt and Jordan. In 2010 we added several places to the itinerary that we hadn’t taken tours to before such as Dendera, Abydos, the WWII battlefields of El Alamein and Jordan. The Treasury at Petra is a sight to see and Jordan has much to offer to travellers.

Featured Testimonial
My recent trip to Italy with ‘Girls on Tour’ was absolutely fantastic – a holiday of a lifetime – extraordinary, memorable, with many ‘OMG how wonderful’ moments, and extremely well organised.
Anything worth seeing - we saw; anything worth doing – we did; anything we mentioned to Judy was considered and usually organised with the group.
